Mark Foley, a Republican congressman from Florida who time and time again denounced sex predators as “animals” was accused of having acted as one. Correspondence between Foley and teen boys in the Page program as well as allegations that the House leadership kept it all a secret surfaced. Amidst all the scandal and all the calls for renewed protection of America’s children, Foley resigned and checked himself into rehab for alcoholism and related behavior problems.
